Ozark Empire Fair

Ozark Empire Fairgrounds Jul - Aug 2008 (annual) First held in 1936, and originally called the Ozark Empire Free Fair, Springfield Missouri's Ozark Empire Fair dropped the "Free" in 1940 when an admission charge of 15 cents was introduced. While prices have gone up a little over seven decades, so have audiences, with nearly 220,000 visitors over the fair's ten days.

Moxie Cinema Apr 2008 (annual) SATO 48 challenges enthusiastic amateur filmmakers to make the best short film in a period of just 48 hours. The films are premièred at the Moxie Cinema, with additional screenings at ArtsFest. Prizes are awarded to the best films in a special awards ceremony at the Keyes Gallery.
